In group Yarn Therapy Zone I asked for design ideas for stranded half-fingered gloves and PatchworkGirl‘s suggestion “sunflowers to support Ukraine” immediately made me think of the peace sign with a sunflower blossom in the middle, being built by growing stems and leaves.
So this design was born, the gloves knitted and sent to Jessica, and now the instruction is available as free download, containing a chart and describing how to knit these as fingerless mitts.

Size:
Teenager or adult with a medium size hands with 18-19cm / 7-3/16 to 7.5 “ circumference above thumb when knitted to gauge 38x42
68 stitches in the round above wrist / above thumb opening, knitted with gauge 38 stitches and 42 rows achieved when knitted with 2.5mm dpn, using the chart to fit not too tight.
By using thinner or thicker yarn (light fingering to sport weight) or needles (2.0 to 3.25mm) your gauge and therefore the size can be adapted.

Yarn recommendation
Fingering to sport weight yarns with one solid main color (MC) and one ore more contrasting solid or semi solid colors (CC)
My gloves have a bright blue as MC, using first a solid green (stem/leaves), then a soft yellow (blossom of central sunflower), and finally a yellow-green-mixed color, in order to reflect the Ukrainian flag and sunflowers’ colors. But feel free to choose other colors.
