A cozy, warm hat from my McBeanies Hats series, featuring a simple woven slip stitch pattern for worsted weight yarn.

There are many useful and popular variations, all with a pretty texture. The version here is worked on a background of knit stitches only.

Measurements:
21” (53cm) circumference, 8.25” (21cm) height.

Yarn requirement:
Approx. 140 yds (130m) worsted weight yarn of your choice.
Try with different yarns and fibers: Metallic, tweed, self striping, solid, semi solid, variegated, merino, cashmere, cotton, alpaca – whatever you like.

Choose a contrasting colour for the ribbing.

Add one size 8cm fur pom pom or make your own from wool.

Needles:
US size 3 and 7 (3.25 and 4.5mm) circular needle 16” (40cm) long
Set of US size 7 (4.5mm) double pointed needles
1 stitch marker and tapestry needle.
