Inspired by the very early signs of Spring, when flower buds are first starting to come through, despite the morning frost or dusting of snow covering the ground.

Raglan style sweaters are my absolute favorite for everyday wear - whether layered over a dress or with my favorite pair of jeans. I wanted to create a fun design that is both a classic wardrobe staple but also feels a bit special.

Meadowland is a top-down raglan construction sweater, knit seamlessly from the collar to the lace hem. This sweater is designed to be worked in a single strand of DK held together with laceweight mohair or Suri throughout the body. The collar, hem and sleeve cuffs are worked in the DK alone. There are instructions for two sleeve options provided in this pattern; choose from a cropped or full-length sleeve.

Main Color “Nymeria” with Contrast Color “Nymeria” shown in sample.

The lace weight Suri is held together with the DK for some rounds, but not all! The single round breaks from the Suri create a subtle strie-stripe effect. For a more noticeable effect, choose a mohair or Suri colorway with high contrast against the main color.

Suggested Needles

  • US 6 / 4 mm, or two sizes smaller than main needle, 16” – 24” / 40 - 60 cm circular
  • US 8 / 5 mm or size needed to obtain gauge, 24” & 30” / 60 cm & 80 cm or longer circular needle (main needle)
  • US 7 / 4.5 mm, or one size smaller than main needle, 24 & 30” / 60 cm & 80 cm or longer circular
  • DPNs in smallest and largest sizes and/or circular needle length for small circumference knitting

Notions

  • Distinct BOR marker + 3 additional markers
  • Extra stitch markers, as needed per size, to delineate lace repeats (optional but recommended)
  • Waste yarn, darning needle & scissors
