Advanced (due to the use of short rows)

Yarn used will vary based on the size you choose. When in doubt, get extra. Main color for a small used almost two whole skeins and contrasting color used a little less than a full skein.

Small (medium) (large) dimensions: neckline (prior to decrease rounds) 25” (29”) (33”) after decrease rounds 14.5”, (16.8”) (18.9”), length from top of neckline to bottom of longest point: 26”, hood height: 15”. Although these are the three sizes, it is possible to make it a little larger in width if needed due to an insert section that is provided in the pattern that can be repeated (you can try on your cape as you go to see if additional sections may be needed-if this is the case though, please let me know prior to adding more sections). Gauge: 14 stitches and 19 rows= 4” you may need to use a bigger or smaller needle to obtain gauge.

You will need two, 1.5”-2” buttons.

The lower cape portion is charted AND written. The top portion (neckline and hood) is written only.

This pattern uses short rows. If you have not done them before you may find this very challenging (even if you don’t typically use charts-sometimes, glancing at the chart will help you get a ‘feel’ for what is expected of you). It could be a very fun knit if you find yourself wanting to learn short rows, as you will get a bit of practice with them! There are charts for the cape portion of this pattern only, and they can be used to help guide you through the short rows. Sometimes, between the written version and the charted version, those short rows will click and whole new world will be opened up to you.

If you look at the photos in this pattern page you will see an extra yarn over in the bottom of the diamonds-that error has been corrected in the pattern.

This pattern has been tested for errors by my wonderful testers, whose time and effort have been greatly appreciated by me.
