The Meandering Beanie has been designed with comfort, texture and quick project completion in mind. It is a hat that the whole family will enjoy wearing throughout the winter months.

The hat is made using the Herringbone Half Double Crochet stitch (HHDC) which gives the hat its texture and coziness as the stitch has a bit more squish factor than regular half double crochet stitches. The stitch is described in the pattern but if you require further help, there are many tutorials online to assist you. It is an easy pattern that advanced beginners and up should be able to enjoy. The hats work up very quick!

You’ll need one ball of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn (2 balls of yarn may be required for the Men’s sizes), the different sizings within the pattern requires both an L (8.00mm) Hook and an M (9.00mm)Hook. You can choose to add a Pom Pom to your hat but this is optional.

Included within the pattern are several sizing options to accommodate many age groups and the pattern can be easily adjusted for a more customized fit as required.

The gauge required for the pattern depends on the hook being used and the sizing of each hat. When using the L Hook, the gauge in 2” x 2” should be 3 Rows x 4 Stitches (using the HHDC) and when using the M Hook, the gauge in 2” x 2” should be between 4 to 4.5 Rows and 4.5 to 5 Stitches (using the HHDC).

You can have fun with the colour design for these hats, you can use different colours to make stripes or just add a few blocks of coordinating colours, it’s up to you!

Thank you for your interest in the pattern, I hope you enjoy making the hats!
