Looking for a little cable and twisted stitches challenge?

The tam band is worked sideways over only a small number of stitches on a twisted rib base, just right for a little cable challenge with the end clearly in sight.

You can choose to sew the band ends together, or to use a provisional cast-on in order to use the 3-needle bind-off to join the ends.

The band would make a great headband already (it’s the 1/2 pattern in the collection).

Stitches are picked up for the tam and worked in Stockinette stitch in the round.

A photo tutorial is included to show you how to pick up 2 sts per chain selvage st instead of just one st per chain st. A useful thing to know that might come in handy for other projects as well.

The tam decreases are worked as a decorative zigzag line instead of the traditional straight lines adding some extra interested to the tam top.

Shown in #606 Frost Gray.
