“Megin” in Old Norse means strength – might – power. The ability to clothe ourselves, and the ones we love, is an incredible power. Whether you taught yourself how to knit, or it was passed down to you from family or friend, you are now able to create something tangible through your perseverance and determination.

These mittens are knit in the round as one piece, and the thumb is worked last in the round.

TECHNIQUES
Cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, stranded color-work, picking up stitches, bind off

SIZE
Adult size S/M – 8” (20cm) in circumference
If you would like to alter the size; use a smaller or larger needle, or experiment with different yarn weights

YARN
This pattern is designed for a DK weight yarn
I used HiKoo® Sueño
80% Merino Superwash, 20% Viscose from Bamboo
1 hank 100g /255y (3.5oz/233m)

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
One each US 2 (3mm) and US 3 (3.25mm) addi FlexiFlips/DPNs or circulars for Magic Loop Method
or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle, stitch markers, at least 6” (15cm) of waste yarn

GAUGE
26 sts x 34 rows = 4” (10cm) in colorwork
6.5 sts x 8.5 rows = 1” (2.5cm) in colorwork
