Create the whimsical Melia Cape for yourself with this 21 Page pattern! This pattern includes a mixture of written instructions, photos and supporting stitch diagrams. This pattern does not require use of the stitch diagrams- all the information is included in the written steps. The stitch diagrams are simply there for additional support!

The Melia Cape features lots of gorgeous leafy lace gathered into a tie closure neckline, and an optional shaped hood. (A shaped hood means no awkward point sticking out of the back of your head when worn up!) Make this cape as long or as short as you like with simple adjustments explained in the pattern to achieve either a cropped capelet look or a full length cape.

Using repeating steps, this pattern is meditative and works up beautifully and surprisingly quickly in any colour!

The amount of yarn needed will depend primarily on the style and length of cape you make. For example:

For a short non-hooded capelet:
200g 4 Ply yarn, or LIKELY MORE or LESS more depending on your size, tension and how long you choose to make your cape. I used King Cole Simply Footsie 4 Ply in colour Olive (approx. 860m/940yds) for the piece depicted in this pattern.

For a longer hooded cape:
500g 4 Ply yarn, or LIKELY MORE or LESS more depending on your size, tension and how long you choose to make your cape. I used King Cole Simply Footsie 4 Ply in colour Olive (approx. 2150m/2350yds) for the piece depicted in this pattern.

Required hooks - 3.5mm.
Essential notions: Yarn needle, scissors
Helpful: Locking stitch markers, tools for blocking, flexible measuring tape
