Melt the ICE Badge
UPDATE: Here’s Melt the ICE Badge version 1.2, with the purl row shenanigans corrected, and 2 sets of instructions for either Easy-Peasy or Fancy-Schmancy.
A tiny knitted symbol of solidarity, based on the nisse hat - a pointy red hat with a tassel that was worn by Norwegians as a sign of solidarity against the Nazis in WWII.
There are several versions of the “Melt the ICE” hat on Ravelry. I suggest you check them out and make one! But if you’re not a hat person, this little Melt the ICE Badge is for you.
This project is perfect for using up yarn scraps - not more than 8 or 9 yards are required. Use whatever needles match your yarn and your preferred tension. It’s a gauge-agnostic pattern!
For the Badge in the photo, I used DK weight yarn and size 6 needles - two DPNs are all you need for this one.
The pattern does not include a method for fastening it to your clothing. How you pin it is up to you! I do suggest placing your pin where the point of the hat and the tassel meet, to keep your top-heavy badge from flopping over.
