With Lent approaching I decided to design a pattern in honor of Memento Mori (Remember your death). This is a very old tradition of remembering that you will pass one day, and to live a good life with that focus. As a Catholic, it’s a very important reminder and one that is celebrated by many during Lent to get ourselves focused on the correct things in this world and in our lives. Of course you can also make and wear this hat just because you love skulls, because what’s not to love? Your color choice can take this from a Lenten reminder to a Halloween hat in no time.

Materials: Approximately 120 (135, 150) yds / 110 (123.5, 137) m of Worsted weight yarn in your main color and approximately 30 yds / 27.5 m in a contrast color.

I have provided both a color work chart as well as written directions to make this pattern a bit more accessible. I have used a single color (blue) to note the Color B option, with Color A being represented by a white box. However, the written directions specify Color A or Color B for each line.

This pattern has been fully Tech Edited.
