NB regarding needles: The pattern calls for two 16-inch US 12 (8.5mm) circular needles.

These mittens are knit up on two circular needles instead of the usual four double points. The yarn is doubled for extra warmth and knits up quickly. The cuff is picked up on the cast on edge after the mitten is completed and is done in a contrasting super bulky weight yarn, only about 25 to 50 yards are needed of the cuff yarn.
