Sometimes, a bucket hat is
the only thing that works. The
Merriweather Hat was born from
my total inability to gracefully wear
a cap or a beanie. I needed to up
my hat game to something a bit
more jaunty, sporty, and totally
wearable.

The Merriweather Hat uses one
strand of DK and one strand of
lace, creating a dense but light
weight fabric with a soft structure
that keeps its shape. The samples
were knit in a variety of Plucky DK
weights, and three different Lace
bases, each bringing their own
dash of halos to the finished hat.

This hat is knit in the round and
starts with the underside of the
brim. After a turning round, the
outside of the brim is knit and
then the top and bottom are
joined. A nifty hat band is worked
next. When completed, the brim
can be worn straight down, or
turned partly up for that extra bit of
sass.
