TWO PATTERNS INCLUDED - perfect for stash-diving

1) a sock pattern with multiple gauges and stitch counts to custom fit your sock

2) a bauble pattern complete with charts so create a set of christmas ornaments in 3 shapes.

Inspiration for this pattern: We wanted to create a kit that would be fun and festive, bright and cheerful, playful and joyful…merry and bright if you will. Included in the package is a fun sock pattern that you can break up into pieces to knit as a countdown to Christmas…either one stripe per day or one section per month all year long, as well as a bauble pattern that can be solid, stripes, or include a colourwork band to create a lovely set of ornaments to bring out year after year.

The sock pattern is written as a top/cuff-down pattern, knit in the round, with a short-row heel and a wedge toe. There is a definite left and right sock, with the charts included for each foot. If you follow the charts, the words will appear on the front and outside of each leg, and symbols of the season complete the rest of the circumference.

The bauble pattern is written bottom up. It starts out flat on dpns, and then is worked in the round. There is a clever little “metal topper” to close off the top of the bauble.

The pattern includes 4 stitch counts and multiple gauges so that it can be knit to fit a variety of foot sizes from Youth to Adult large, depending on your yarn and needle choices.

The socks were originally designed for the Legacy Fiber Artz: A Homemade Holiday Kit, but are perfect stash busting socks. Each section requires approximately 3 grams of fingering weight of each colour per sock (6 grams per colour if you want matching socks). Yardage required would vary with foot size and yarn weight - probably 300 - 440 yards would do most sizes.

The baubles are ideal for stash busting. You can knit them all in one colour, use fun leftovers of self-striping yarn, or use one of the many charts included to have a very unique set of fun ornaments. There is a chart included to create baubles with names, to commemorate the year, or just to include a word of your choice. Most can be made with under 5 grams of yarn.
