When I saw how beautifully this yarn showed off stitch patterns, I knew I couldn’t limit myself to using just one in this sweater. The challenge became transitioning between multiple stitch patterns smoothly. I chose two quite distinct patterns: an intricate Leaf Pattern composed of double decreases and yarn overs to match, and a simpler Comb Stitch pattern that produced a zigzag of single eyelets. After a bit of swatching, I was able to let the undulating Leaf pattern flow into the zigzag of the Comb Stitch eyelets and then gradually decrease the width of the zigzag. I named this sweater based on how the exuberance of foliage near the hem transforms into eyelet waves and ends with just a trickle of eyelets at the top.
