I’ve used this stranded motif for double knit scarves and socks in the past, but I thought it would be fun to use it in a sweater for babies and children. Since the floats are fairly long, I decided not to use the motif on the sleeves (tiny fingers snagging the floats) so I added stripes to the sleeves.

I prefer working stranded work flat and the pattern is written to reflect my preferences. However, it can be easily worked in the round if that is your preferred method. The sleeves are worked from the shoulders to the cuff using a short row technique to shape the sleeve caps.

There are two choices for the neckline: the smaller size model shows a crew neck and the larger shows a turtleneck. The neck opening for both sizes is quite large. Be sure to check the chest measurement when selecting a size. They are designed with several inches of ease.
