This colorful, weighty blanket will use up lots of stash yarn, while remaining totally portable as you work on it.

To allow for flexibility in mixing and matching colors, the squares are made individually, then stitched or crocheted together.

The pleasure is in seeing how the colors blend, contrast, and interact with one another.

One option is to use one color as a contrast color throughout (approx. 8 skeins of black, grey, or white) with as many contrasting colors as you like. My plan was to make every square different, using stash yarns,

Wool, wool blend, or acrylic yarn may be used. If any wool is used, the blanket will be hand-washable only (and it weights over 3 pounds dry), so consider your choices.
