This pattern was supposed to be called something else, something very obvious, and I was so overworked at the time that I completely forgot about the Plan and just groped for a piece of the phonetic alphabet I hadn’t used yet. So! It may change up soon, but it will be the same shawl.

Enjoy this simple top-down shawl with eyelets! This design starts from a plain cast-on for a smooth, minimalist edge, rather than a traditional garter-stitch tab.

The fabric is dominated by garter stitch, so it’s fairly reversible as well—the right side is determined by the stockinette spine and stockinette-column selvedges.

Materials:

  • One skein or about 440 yards of Malabrigo Yarn Sock
  • 1 24-48” circular needle in US4-6/3.25-4.0mm, or size needed for gauge.
  • Tapestry needle
  • 1 2.25mm crochet hook for cast on
  • Removable stitch marker

Gauge:
Gauge is 20 sts and 40 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked garter stitch, worked flat. Please be sure to check your gauge, especially if you’re working this as a one-skein project—it cuts pretty close!
