Mildred's Slice Heel
Mildred’s Slice Heel is a variation of the Boomerang heel that uses all of the stitches on your needles instead of just one-half of them. This is a pattern for the heel only.
Most short row heel build the heel over one-half of the stitches in the body of the sock. In my experience this creates a tension point on the top of the sock because of the low pivot point of the short rows.
I wondered if the tension at the top of the instep could be eliminated or lessened by using more of the body stitches for the heel. I tried a couple of different numbers of stitches for the heel and finally decided that using all the stitches worked best.
