Mille Scrappy Scarf is a beginner-friendly scarf in garter stitch that is intended as a scrap yarn project. By knitting the scarf “the wrong way around”, so working along the long sides, and cutting the yarn after every row, you naturally end up with a fringe on either side of the scarf. There is no need to weave in ends, bother with attaching the fringe at the end or running out of yarn.

Materials

  • About 80 (100) g of fingering weight yarn scraps (approx. 225 m / 50 g) and about 40 (50) g of mohair scraps (approx. 212 m / 25 g). You will hold both strands together.
  • 4 mm circular needles with the longest cable you can find (I used a 100 cm cable and that was just fine)

Sizing
The pattern comes in two sizes. With the first size you will be able to comfortably wrap the scarf around your neck once and with the second size you can wrap it around twice.

Gauge
21 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in garter stitch on 4 mm needles.
Note: You can obviously substitute the yarn and needles to whatever yarn you have at hand and knit the scarf at any gauge. The weight described above is only what I used, what I enjoy most, and what I had the most scraps of.

General Note: As a “one-woman-show” I translated this pattern myself. As a native German grammar mistakes in the English pattern can occur.
The pattern has been test knitted, so you should be good to go - if you have any questions or problems, please contact me at quasigerade@web.de - Thank you so much for your support!

Happy Knitting!
