This simple pattern was designed for projects for charitable giving (although you’re not obligated to use it only for such projects!). The length of the ribbing can be changed, but the overall length should remain the same. If you knit deeper ribbing, consider going up a needle size.

I do not include instructions for making the pompom, but those are readily available online and in many knitting publications.
