The reason I learned to knit was to be able to make this bootie that has been passed down a few generations.
Knit flat with long tails (used for sewing seems) and very easily adjusted to personal preferences of color work and the size you need it to be.

Womens use US size 6 and US size 8 needles
Men’s use US size 7 and 9 needles
Big kids, use US size 5 and 7 needles

Color work can easily be done or changed in the “pattern” areas

Shoe size is adjusted in the toe cast on, +/- 2 stitches for each size up or down

Written pattern fits a women’s 7/8, men’s 9 or big kids 2/3
