The Mindful Mountains Cowl is a love letter to slow stitching and wide-open views. Beginning with a playful section of linen stitch, this pattern invites you to slow down and enjoy the rhythm of working with treasured scraps—each color a small memory, each stitch a steady breath.
As the fabric grows, the pattern shifts into a gentle chevron lace, rising and falling like the mountain peaks visible from Pilot Butte in Bend, Oregon. As the pattern unfolds, each repeat builds on the last, creating a sense of movement and quiet accomplishment.
Finished with a seamless graft, this cowl is as much about the journey as the destination—a piece to wear when you need a little calm, a little color, and a reminder to slow down.
This pattern is perfect for knitters who enjoy mindful repetition, subtle transitions, and a meaningful connection between process and place.

A note on yarn needs:

Main color- Any Sport weight yarn, you will need about 85 grams for the lace section.

Scrap Yarn (Bits & Bobs)- Approximately 40–50 grams of leftover yarn is needed for the linen stitch section. The sample shown uses a playful mix of yarns ranging from lace weight to thick-and-thin bulky, creating a rich, textured fabric.
Because thicker yarns contain less yardage per gram, you may find you need a bit more if your scraps lean bulky.
