When my daughter’s preschool suggested a thinner mitten so that she could better explore the outside world, I went on a search at big box stores for something thin…with no luck. So I grabbed some sock yarn scraps and knocked out these little things!

Mitts can be worked in fingering or sport weight yarns.

Gauge

On fingering weight: 29 sts and 48 rows

On sport weight: 28 sts and 44 rows

Finished Size

12-18 months: To fit 4″ wrist and hand of 4.5″ (around the knuckles)

Sportweight yarn will produce mittens slightly more loose fitting.
