Mini-Scarf with Frill

Knitting
November 2015
Worsted (9 wpi) ?
26.5 stitches and 27 rows = 4 inches
320 - 370 yards (293 - 338 m)
Errata available: drive.google.com

Begin with a provisional cast-on, work to one frill end of the scarf, then remove the provisional cast-on and finish the other frill. Skills required include twisted stitches, patterning on both right and wrong sides, and chart reading. Despite its complex and delicate appearance, there are relatively few stitch symbols, and they all appear in the first two pattern rows, which are then repeated in various combinations.

Note also that the central motif repeats over 30 rows, while the 3-st repeat either side of it repeats over 8 rows. When you get beyond row 30, keep track of each repeat separately.

Clarification: The text at the top of the pattern tells you to bind off at the far end of the scarf, then pick up stitches to work the frill. That’s what the original says, though I’m not sure why. It seems to make more sense to decrease to 40 stitches and work the frill without binding off.
