I created this pattern as I could only find larger whale patterns/patterns that started from the bottom up and I wanted a top down pattern. I also wanted it smaller than the other published pattens that I could find, so I created one smaller.

This pattern worked in the round.

Any colour and yarn combination can be used, I have used 2 strands of embroidery thread, cotton DK and Flutterby chunky and all work. I used a 2.5mm hook for the cotton DK in the pink photos, but I have used up to a 3.5mm hook for the same yarn, so use what suits you and you find best to work with.

I have used safety eyes for the larger whales I have created, french knots for the embroidery thread whales, and sewn on eyes as lines with others, it’s makers preference.

Yarn yardage is an estimate, as it depends on yarn weight and size made.
