You need to take inspiration where it comes – and this one came from the pattern on a toothbrush. It turned out to be a quick, fun short repeat for a sock as well. Knit them up in summery fun colours to get ready for the season. Garments might be to warm to keep in your lap in summer, but you can always tolerate a sock, can’t you?

Size
Sizes 1 (2, 3) with a stitch count of 60 (72, 84). The foot circumference at the suggested gauge is 16.5cm (20cm, 23cm). Length can easily adjusted in the stockinette part. You can also create in-between sizes by adding or removing multiples of 6 stitches. This may affect the exact stitch counts for the heel.

Materials
approx. 40g of C1 yarn (dark green)
approx. 70g of CC yarn (light green)
2.5mm DPNs or needles for magic loop or size required to get gauge
2mm DPNs or needles for magic loop or size required to get gauge
tapestry needle

The pattern is written for knitting on a set of five DPNs, but can easily be adjusted to your favourite style of knitting socks

Any regular fingering weight sock yarn in solid or semisolid colours will work well. Using variegated or even speckled yarns might also lead to interesting results, but keep the contrast to the between the colours used next to each other high enough.

Charted colourwork with additional written instructions for the construction.
