The Miriam Beanie is one of those projects that looks a little fancy at first glance—but once you get going, it settles into a rhythm that’s so enjoyable to knit.

This beanie features a flowing lace ripple that runs all the way from brim to crown, giving the hat a soft, lightweight feel with just the right amount of texture. It’s the same ripple pattern used in my Miriam Socks, so if you’ve made those, you’ll feel right at home here.

I designed this beanie to be something you can come back to again and again. It’s light enough for transitional weather, detailed enough to feel special, and simple enough to relax with once the pattern clicks. And with sizing from newborn through large adult, it’s perfect for knitting gifts or making a whole set for your family.

Materials:

  • Fingering weight yarn (I used Madelinetosh Tosh Mo Light)
  • 2.5 mm circular needles
  • 2.5 mm double pointed needles (for crown)
  • Stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle

If you enjoy lace that feels approachable and repeats you can memorize, this is such a satisfying knit. Don’t be surprised if you finish one and immediately cast on another.
