The Miriam Cowl is a lightweight lace cowl knitting pattern worked in the round with delicate openwork and simple ribbed edges.

Designed with fingering-weight yarn, this cowl is a lovely way to enjoy lace knitting without committing to a larger project. The repeating lace pattern combines yarn overs and decreases with plenty of simple knit rounds in between, making it an approachable project if you enjoy a little detail without complicated construction.

The cowl begins and ends with 1x1 ribbing and is worked completely in the round, so there are no seams when you’re finished.

I knit my Miriam Cowl with Hobbii Soft Alpaca for a soft, drapey fabric that lets the lace open beautifully after blocking.

Pattern Details:

  • Fingering-weight yarn
  • Approximately 350-370 yards
  • US 1 / 2.5 mm and US 2 / 3 mm circular needles
  • Worked in the round
  • Lace stitch pattern with ribbed edges
  • Finished size: approximately 11 x 16 inches / 27.5 x 40 cm laid flat
  • Written instructions and stitch chart included

The Miriam Cowl makes a beautiful lightweight accessory for layering with sweaters, cardigans, and jackets, and it uses less than 400 yards of fingering-weight yarn. Perfect for that skein of sock yarn you’ve had stashed away for the perfect project.
