Two strands of fingering weight yarn held together make this cowl a cute quickie project! The simple fade effect is achieved by swapping out one strand at a time for the second color.

The base triangle is worked flat on the bias in a garter and slipped stitch pattern using color A held double. (The easiest way to do this is to wind the yarn into a center-pull cake and pull from the center and the outside at the same time.) Then stitches are picked up along the straight selvage edge, joined with the existing live stitches, and worked downward in the round in a faded chevron garter stitch border, first with one strand of each color together, then with color B held double.
