✨ The Story Behind Your Next Knit

A stunning crescent-shaped shawl that blends playful chevrons, cozy brioche, delicate eyelets, and clever short rows for a truly unique and vibrant accessory. This shawl is worked flat from a long I-cord cast-on edge and then shaped into a beautiful crescent using strategic short rows. With its three contrasting colors and engaging textures, it’s a joy to knit and a statement piece to wear! This shawl was designed for knitters who love variety and get bored easily – it’s made to keep you entertained every stitch of the way!

🧶 Quick Highlights:

  • Difficulty: Intermediate (perfect for expanding your skills!)
  • Techniques: Knit, purl, short rows, slipped stitches, brioche ribbing, bobbles, and basic increases/decreases, I-cord cast on
  • Construction: Worked flat, along the long edge creating a large rectangle. You then use short rows to create the crescent shape.
  • Special Features: Three colors, bobbles, short rows, slipped stitches, chevrons, and even an I-cord cast on! I promise you’ll NEVER get bored with this pattern!
  • Yarn Weight: Fingering weight.

📐 Approximate Measurements:

  • Length: 58.5” (149 cm)
  • Depth: 17.5” (44 cm)
  • Tip: Exact gauge is not critical, but a significant difference will affect the final size and yarn requirements. Swatch it up, friend! 😉

🧶 Suggested Yarn:

  • Recommended Yarn:

This is where we are going to get a bit tricky! All three color ways are “Limited Edition” Colorways in La Jolla By Baah Yarns (100% SW Merino), 400 yds (365 m); 115 g (4.1 oz).

So here are some recommendations:

  • C1 (Pink): “Limited Edition” 1 skein (approximately 382 yds (349 m); 110 g (3.8 oz) needed) very similar to colorway “Whispering Peach”
  • C2 (Blue Multi-Color): “Limited Edition“ 1 skein (approximately 382 yds (349 m); 110 g (3.8 oz) needed) very similar to colorway “I Love You So Matcha” or “Blue Suede Shoes”
  • C3 (Blue Tonal): “Limited Edition“ 1 skein (approximately 382 yds (349 m); 110 g (3.8 oz) needed) very similar to colorway “Over The Moon

🥢 Needles:

  • US 5 (3.75 mm) and US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge at least 40” (102 cm) long.

✂️ Notions:

  • Tapestry needle (for weaving in those gorgeous color changes!)
  • Stitch markers (19)
  • Row Counter (optional!)

📏 Gauge:

  • 21 sts / 52 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Garter Stitch using smaller needles (US 5 (3.75 mm)) after a light blocking
  • Exact gauge is not critical. However, the shawl requires nearly the entire skein of each color, deviation from the gauge will affect the size of the shawl and yarn requirements.
