I didn’t have an on-the-go project for an impromptu road trip, so I grabbed my beanie needles and some yarn hanging out in my scrap yarn container that I thought looked fun together. I received many compliments on the beanie. Then a friend wanted one but in different colors. So I decided to use the second go-round to get the pattern tested and out there for everybody to have a fun on-the-go project using special leftovers.

The construction of this beanie is based on my Slouchy Beanie design which originally emerged from a purchase of one skein of worsted weight yarn I wanted to showcase as a quick, simple, and relaxing accessory. Slouchy beanies seem to still be a trendy look and with the MisMatch Beanie can now be a favorite way to display many beloved yarns all together. There are also two rounds of simple colorwork to spice things up!

This pattern is designed for adult size, but with fewer stitches in multiples of 10, it could be made for smaller sizes…or larger sizes if increased by stitches in multiples of 10.

If you don’t have aran, DK, or worsted weight yarns, you can hold two fingering weight yarns together to meet the gauge requirement.
