Miss Bennett
“Miss Bennett”
With 2025 being the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, I felt the draw to create some designs around her books.
This first one is for the daughters of the Bennett household in Pride And Prejudice.
I was unable to decide between the characters and whilst Elizabeth is a favourite, I felt the pull towards Jane also, seeing this possibly worn on the way to one of the many balls they attended.
It is created in 4ply/sock yarn, and here the example carries silk in the blend which allows the shawl to drape beautifully and provide a soft and luxurious feel to the finished piece.
If you have the opportunity to use the same, you will not be disappointed.
The shawl takes 2 skeins of 100g/400m and using some simple stitches creates a shawl that looks far more complicated than it is.
I have written the pattern row by row so there are no complicated charts or loosing track of where you are.
It would be a perfect celebration shawl and I hope the pattern and finished garment brings you much joy in the making and wearing.
