Very few things are as likely to draw a huge smile from my little one as something that is mommy-made, and even better is if that something matches me. We each have our own style preferences which rarely overlap, but this fun piece is the elusive “unicorn” that we are both happy to wear. Miss Portrait looks polished however and wherever she chooses to learn and play throughout the seasons. From the boardwalk at the beach where she collects shells, to the theater as she imaginatively twirls in a tutu with visions of herself as a sugar plum fairy, followed up swiftly by dreams of rugged adventure as she hikes the heights of a far off forbidden mountain peak or camps in the depths of the jungle… or in a different and practical world where it’s chosen for its comfort and paired with a cardigan and leggings for a friend’s holiday party – this timeless piece will be offer beautiful comfort and function that spans across multiple seasons.

As a knitter and designer, my goal is to create beautiful pieces that bring joy both in the knitting and the wearing; to proudly share you have made yours or your loved one’s garment is quite a satisfying accomplishment, after all! Miss Portrait is constructed in a top down, seamless manner with clear instructions, an illustrated tutorial for the underarm join, and a detailed schematic to help assist in selecting the best size and fit for your little miss. Starting with the modified-bateau neckline that is softly shaped by the simple lace accent, to the finished edging and comfortable underarm join; this camisole which sits without fuss at mid-hip, offers a multi-season, wearable practicality that allows for freedom of movement, strength, and imagination, regardless of whether it’s worn in layers or on its own. Curated to a perfect combination of simplicity and detail, you’ll enjoy both the process and product of this knit.
