This shawl combines simple stockinette with a touch of texture and a deep garter ruffle. It is knit from the top down and can be knit with a straight top edge or with curving ends. The size of the shawl will depend on the amount of yarn you have, as you knit to a certain point with half of your yarn. The measurements given are for four balls (764 yards) of Felted Tweed at the specified gauge. Choosing not to knit the curved ends will give you a slightly deeper shawl with the same yardage. Yarn with some alpaca is recommended for drape. The textured band will show up better in a lighter color.

Note: Felted Tweed is classified as a DK weight yarn, but many find it knits up more like sport weight.

Skills needed:
• Increasing
• Decreasing
• Slipping stitches
• Yarn overs

Yardage details:
Samples were knit with 764 yards of Felted Tweed (blue curved version) and 665 yards of sport weight alpaca (grey straight version), but you can easily make a smaller or larger shawl with less/more yardage.

Gray sample knit in WovenGems Prime Alpaca in Silver Gray (undyed). Blue sample knit in Felted Tweed in Grey Blue.
