The Secret Garden book and movie (1993) is one of my childhood favorites that cultivates an air of wonder and enchantment. The idea of finding an abandoned garden full of forgotten stories waiting to come into bloom – what could be more thrilling?

Frances Hodgson Burnett had an uncanny ability to tell stories that, on the surface, appeared to be simple tales of childlike wonder. Yet, she also managed to weave in deeper themes of loss (especially parental, as seen in her two most famous works), finding joy in the everyday, and the power of imagination and creativity - as well as, sometimes, a little mischief - to overcome adversity. Because of these themes, her books transcend time and still resonate with souls of all ages.

These mitts are designed in homage to Frances Hodgson Burnett’s stories, and the unexpected stories we unearth within ourselves when we read her works. Honoring both the seeds of where we came from, and the seasons of growth borne out of the stories that enrich the gardens of our lives, the Misselthwaite Manor Mitts, like their namesake, are a classic addition to make you (and your knitwear wardrobe) flourish and bloom.
