These are the directions to create a mitered, closed granny square using double crochet (DC) that’s about 12-14 inches when completed.

You can put as many squares together as you’d like to create as large a covering as desired. I recommend using at least three squares across to get the 3D effect. In my example, I’ve done alternating 3 and 4 squares horizontally, attaching corner to corner, with 7 squares vertically. This arrangement mostly covers a twin bed, not including any border.

I’ve noted worsted as the weight but, as this works out to be a rather large square, you can probably go down to DK weight, adjust the hook size accordingly, and still end up with a nice outcome.

Colorway: Off White, Light Neutral, Medium-Light Neutral, Medium Neutral, Dark Neutral, Coordinating Color - The dark neutral color should be the darkest color in the group. I’ve attached a photo of several sample colorways. The following key goes with the sample which is browns and for the coordinating color I alternated between a pine green and a wine red. Yardage is approximate and doesn’t include border.
