Mitered Mitts were inspired by the idea of utilizing a simple shape to create an intriguing, modern stripe. Basing the mitts around a mitered square means the resulting mitts will be fraternal; similar in look but not the same on each hand.

The mitts begin with a striped mitered square. The edges of the square are picked up and knit with a side panel that includes the thumb gusset, and the edges are all finished nicely in ribbing. Yarn selection can make the stripes really vibrant, or really mellow. It’s a perfect pattern to make more than once, because the resulting mitts can and will vary wildly.
