Mitten Basics ‘Stripes’ designed by our very own Judy T. as part of London Yarns in-house design team for Dragonpine Designs, is a great, overall ‘bread & butter’ mitten pattern, that includes instructions for the stripes! It is a simple, basic mitten designed with beginners in mind, but suitable for all skill levels.

These Hudson Bay inspired mittens are knit in the round from cuff to fingertip.

We start knitting in the round with a classic 2x2 ribbed cuff in white and work up the mitten to the elegantly tapered top shaping. The Stripe Sequence is given at the beginning of each section (Cuff, Gusset, Top, Top Shaping and Thumb) and shows the colour and number of rounds for each stripe by size. This is followed by the pattern instructions for the section.

And not to be missed is the main feature of these mittens - the contoured thumb gusset that fits the natural shape of our hands and makes them very comfortable to wear.

Knit in a worsted weight yarn, these mitts will work up quickly and be warm to wear. Pattern offers 3 finished adult sizes.
