A byte is a unit of data that is commonly made up of eight binary digits. A byte is the smallest addressable unit of memory in a computer system. I call these Mitten Bytes because the hands are 16 sts. around, 8 sts per side.

These little mittens are a perfect project for using up scraps of yarn. This is written for fingering/sock/4-ply yarn but it can easily be adapted to any weight yarn by using the appropriate needle size.

Sock knitting experience is helpful but not essential.

Note: This pattern is intended to be ornamental rather than functional. If you are interested in knitting actual mittens for small children, please search the Rav database of patterns. There are many, many patterns available, both free and paid. Happy Knitting!
