Two ribs are better than one in this artful cardigan with long sleeves and deeply scalloped front edges.

Mixed Media is knit from side to side in one piece, with short rows and decreases shaping sleeve caps. Sleeves and collar are picked up and knitted. The only seams are along shoulders and down inside of sleeves.

Needles: Long straight or circular needles for sweater body and circular or double-pointed needles sleeves.

Notions: Markers, tapestry needle, three ¾“ by 2” toggle buttons, crochet hook (around 3.5-4 mm) and one small flat button for optional inside closure, waste yarn.

Sizes: XS (S, S/M, M, M/L, L, XL, XXL); recommended for chest sizes 31-33 (33-35, 35-37, 37-39, 39-43, 43-47, 47-51, 51-55)“. Back measurements (underarm to underarm): 15½ (16½, 17½, 18½, 19½, 21½, 23½, 25½)”. Shown in size S/M; chest size of model and dress from is 36”.

Yarn: Sunday Knits 5 ply (worsted weight yarn, 137 yds / 125 m per 50g skein) in Angelic (merino angora), Eden (merino), Nirvana (merino cashmere), or Brigadoon (merino tweed): 8 (9, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) skeins.

Substitute any worsted weight yarn that works nicely to gauge.

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4” in k1-p1 rib, measured from the inside of a large washed and dried swatch with ribs smoothed flat.

Techniques: Provisional cast on, pick up and knit, sewn bind off (optional), short rows (here’s a link to the popular wrapless short row method that I devised in 2009): http://www.sundayknits.com/techniques/shortrows.html

Pattern includes: Written instructions, stitch patterns in both written and charted formats, schematic, glossary.
