I’ve visited Ireland a couple of times and I’ve learnt that the prejudice that it always rains in Ireland is not true – but it does indeed rain a lot. There is a reason why the Irish use so many words to describe the different types of rain: it spits, drizzles, teems, buckets down and there are a lot more expressions. Even on the sunniest of days the rain is only ‘hiding’ and never far away – just like in these socks.

The socks are knitted toe up. They feature a pattern in illusion knitting technique – sometimes the raindrops are visible and by moving your feet just the tiniest bit they are gone. An interesting knitting technique with a stunning effect which is worked with one colour at a time.

They come in two sizes, women’s M to fit leg circumference 20 cm (7.75”) and L to fit leg circumference 24 cm (9.5”). Leg length results in 22 cm (8.5)“ when knit as given in the pattern, adjustable.

You can choose to work the raindrop pattern either from the charts or the written instructions.

Material: 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn with high contrast and a yardage of approximately 400 m (440 yds) per 100 g.
Notions: 5 stitch markers, darning needle,

The Mizzle pattern is also available as part of the Irish at Heart eBook.
