This seamless baby cardigan is made top-down with integrated neck and button bands. It has a vee neckline that will show off the layer underneath, but is still high enough to keep baby’s chest warm, and uses a very easy short row technique to create a trendy curved hem.

Like all minimal knits | DESIGNED baby clothes, MK#2 provides plenty of room to grow and the sleeves are designed to be rolled up when baby is at the younger end of the range.

Depending on your yarn colour and button choices, it’s not too pretty for a boy and not too macho for a girl. The pictured cardigan was made with Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply Luxury machine washable wool in the colour Orange Fizz.

Skill Level Easy Advanced beginner … even though it might include a technique you haven’t used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.

Chest approximately 47 (49, 53, 57, 61) cm – 18 (19, 21, 22, 24) inches, including 8 (8, 10, 11, 12) cm / 3 (3, 4, 4½, 4¾) inches of positive ease
Length from centre back neck edge to back hem 27.5 (30, 32.5, 36, 37) cm – 10¾ (11¾, 12¾, 14¼, 14⅝) inches
Sleeves from underarm 15.5 (16.5, 19, 20.5, 21.5) cm – 6 (6½, 7½, 8, 8½) inches

Materials needed
285 (323, 381, 450, 492) metres – 312 (354, 417, 492, 538) of DK/8 ply yarn
4 mm / US 6 needles for the body
4 mm / US 6 dpns or circular needles suitable for magic loop for the sleeves
5 cute buttons with diameter 15 - 18mm / ⅝ - ¾ inch
6 stitch markers, scrap yarn, wool needle

Gauge
22 stitches = 10 cm / 4 inches
