This minimal knits | DESIGNED seamless, classic double-breasted coat is suitable for little boys and girls.

It’s made top down – starting with the collar - with integrated neck and button bands, and when the knitting is finished all we have to do is attach the top of the back split, weave in the ends, and sew on the buttons.

There are no complicated stitches or patterns to remember.

The collar, cuffs, hem, double breasted front edges, centre back section (simulating the French seam that traditionally goes down the back of a coat), and the back split edges are garter stitch, and all the rest is stocking stitch. We will work a few, very easy, short rows to elevate the back neck, and there are detailed instructions in the pattern, as well as links to online video and written tutorials.

Due to this combination of stocking stitch and garter stitch, the coat will need to be blocked, and there are detailed suggestions (and photographs) provided.

The pictured coat was made using Bendigo Woollen Mills 10ply Luxury 100% machine washable wool, in the colour Koala.

Skill Level Easy… even though it might include a technique you haven’t used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.
