This hat features mock cables, which are done with a combination of increases and decreases. There are two versions of the hat. Version 1 uses closed yarn overs, while Version 2 features open yarn overs.

Knitter can choose between fully written pattern instructions, or charted instructions.

Instructions are given for customizing hat length while maintaining crown pattern.

SIZING, GAUGE AND YARN REQUIREMENTS
Each size is achieved using a different yarn weight and needle size

Infant (6 months) to fit 15-16’’ head
90 yards fingering weight yarn, with gauge of 7 sts/in, US 2/2.75mm needles

Toddler to fit 17.5-18.5’’ head
about 105 yards sport weight yarn, with a gauge of 6 sts/in, US 4/3.5 mm needles

Child or small adult to fit 19-20’’ head
about 115 yds DK weight yarn, with a gauge of 5.5 sts/in, US 5/3.75mm needles

Adult to fit 21-22’’ head
about 125 yds worsted weight yarn, with a gauge of 5 sts/in, US 7/4.5mm needles

Large adult to fit 23-34’’ head
about 135 yds Aran weight yarn, with a gauge of 4.5 sts/in, US 9/5.5 mm needles
