DESIGN NOTES: Mockingjay was one of the first sock designs I ever imagined. Over two years ago, when I had finished reading “Catching Fire” the image of Katniss’ dress bursting into flames on stage and becoming the elusive Mockingjay, foreshadowing her own transformation into the “rebel” she was destined to become, stayed with me, haunting my design mind until I could find a way to focus it into wearable art. Eventually it evolved into this sock design, which I had originally began shortly after completing my GALE socks. The idea of making an entire series of socks was still a new concept, and I never imagined that this would be one of the last Hunger Games inspired socks I would complete!

TECHNIQUE NOTES: This sock is done primarily in mosaic colorwork. If you are unfamiliar to this technique, I hope you will find it a fun, challenging, yet less daunting method of colorwork than traditional stranded colorwork. You only carry one color around the sock at a time, slipping the inactive sts and working the active sts, the active color noted in a side bar.
.

FIT NOTES: This sock is available in 3 sizes with two gusset options. Due to the unique gauge created by the mosaic colorwork fabric, the sizes have larger CO numbers than usual for a S, M, L sock.
