The Mocktile Baby Blanket is the perfect project to make for, or gift to, a new arrival. A variant of an eyelet blanket, it lends itself to many different yarn fibres, weights and colours.

This blanket is knitted in the round, centre out and therefore has no purling and no seaming even though it has the appearance of blocks seamed together and the illusion of stitches going in multiple directions. The pattern is intuitive and repetitive enough to be relaxing to work whilst still having enough interest in the design to keep you occupied! An i-cord bind off makes a neat and sturdy edge at the end.

Size is adjustable and the pattern is easily extendable to make any desired square blanket size. Beware though that as with all centre-out projects, the rounds get much longer by the end of the project!

PS: In the future, I’ll attempt to write this pattern out fully and meticulously but at the moment, I’ve written it up to invite intuitiveness and a feel for how the pattern works.
