These socks were designed for Sock Madness 11 (2017). The pattern will be available to the public after the competition is over--sometime in mid-2017.

So, what happens when you combine housework avoidance and a vintage-style hand-towel during Sock Madness? Oh, nothing much. Just a bit of Mod(ern) Madness.

These socks are worked top-down, with a flap and gusset heel and a variable wedge toe. It’s a simple, standard sock design—if you ignore that whole two strands of yarn at a time bit.

Mod gives you the opportunity to practice even tensioning and yarn control since both colors are used simultaneously throughout most of the sock. The extra yarn on the inside makes for a thicker sock, thus making this pair a good choice for when you have to put your snow boots on and shovel the walk.

Due to the nature of the pattern, the pattern only comes in one size, Some adjustment is possible by choosing thicker or thinner yarns and needles. Please swatch and check your math before you cast on. Notes are included to make two different leg lengths as indicated in the pictures. A pair will use roughly 50-75 grams each of two colors.
