Escherichia coli is a bacterium that is commonly found in human intestines. Most E. coli strains are harmless, but some can cause serious food poisoning in their hosts. E. coli is frequently used as a model organism in microbiology studies.

This pattern makes a tiny little E. coli cell; the body is just 2cm long and the flagella add 10cm (although it is, of course, many orders of magnitude larger than an actual E. coli).

Materials
• DK weight yarn in hot pink: I chose this colour in order to resemble Gram-negative staining, but you can choose any colour you like.
• 3.5mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Fiberfill stuffing
