Monodelphis domestica, the gray short-tailed opossum, is a South American marsupial (not to be confused with the North American Didelphis virginiana). They are superficially similar in appearance to mice and rats, but have a shorter tail, bigger ears and a longer nose. They are often used as a laboratory model organism for studies of the immune system, cancer progression and mammalian evolution.

Finished dimensions: 6cm tall and 12cm long (+ 6cm of tail).

Supplies
1. DK yarn in light brown, light flesh pink and shrimp pink.
Note: You can also use grey for the opossum coat. The true colour is an agouti mixture of brown and grey, but that cannot be easily replicated with yarn, so use whatever you prefer.

  1. 3.5mm hook
  2. Fiberfill stuffing
  3. Yarn needle
  4. 8mm black safety eyes (you could also embroider eyes or use felt).
