Modular knitting is any group styles, shapes, and designs that the final knitted fabric is composed of knitted pieces that fit together. The most common type of modular knitting is mitered knitting also known as domino knitting, number knitting, or simply just modular knitting. Often mitered squares are joined together by picking up stitches from one of the edges of the previous square. Mitered squares are then made by knitting decreases in the center of your work creating the square.

Modern Modular Purse is a small, mitered squares bag large enough for a few items like your cell phone, a card case, and lipstick. Directions include two different ways of knitting it, 1) seaming the three sections that make up the purse, or 2) picking up stitches as you go and seaming only three stitches at the end.

As with most purses, gauge is not important. I do recommend using a smaller needle that suggested on the yarn band unless you are going to line your purse.

While wool is a always an acceptable choice, it will stretch. I used cotton and acrylic is good too.
